Sr. Manager, Acoustic Systems Engineering

Job Description:

Purpose:

Leading infrastructure setup in acoustics; including equipment in manufacturing environment, production testing, qualification, etc.

Provide technical support to production / engineering / quality functions in trouble shooting and continuous improvement. Support business team, engaging with customers in business development.

This position is an individual contributor with sound knowledge and solid experience in high volume acoustic manufacturing company, able to share his / her expertise to the team. The appropriate candidate should have strong leadership, execution capability, and result oriented.

Responsibilities:

· Provide technical support through product level DFx, in new business or new product development; particularly in Rub & Buzz, Distortion, Coloration, etc.

·  Technical lead in acoustics, interface with customers and support manufacturing site for production readiness.

· Support sourcing team in component vendor survey & selection, target for the best supplier base for the company.

· Leading production / engineering / quality teams to establish and maintain infrastructures in acoustics, such as sound proof room, acoustic chamber, air leak tester, etc.

·  Leading production / engineering / quality teams to develop and fully understand manufacturing & testing process. Support system level testing setup including testing process development, testing protocol, testing standard, acceptance criteria, tolerance definition, etc.

· Leading production line verification and documentation.

·Support the team to achieve customer and / or external certification & qualification through acoustics engineering.

· Train up engineering and quality staff in acoustics engineering with the best practice. Qualify staff for critical job functions in acoustics engineering.

·Support quality staff in quality system related to acoustic manufacturing & testing, such as measuring equipment calibration, GR&R, data logging & traceability, etc.

· Support testing team in acoustic systems testing, including hardware & software design.

· Interface with supplier and customer on testing correlation and problem solving.

Requirements:

· Bachelor Degree in Acoustics, Physis, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivilent.

· Strong knowledge in mathematical modelling and data analysis in acoutics, such as Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), harmonics, distortion, frequency response, etc.

· More than 8 years solid experience in sizable acoustic manufacturing & testing environemnt, at least 5 years in managerial level.

· Solid experience in setup production line and testing facility, such as sound proof room, Sound Pressure Level (SPL) measurement, etc.

· Hands on experience in acoustic tests, such as Rub & Buzz test, dB Sound Pressure Level (SPL), anechoic measurement, Total Harmonic Distortation (THD), THD+N (w/ noise), Thiele / Small parameters measurement, frequency sweep, etc.

·  Solid experience in acoustic testing automation in production line. Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) for data analysis, data loggging and traceability.

·Hands on experience in using testing applications, such as Klippel QC System www.klippel.de, SoundCheck www.listeninc.com, PureSound www.nti-audio.com, etc.

· Solid experience in testing system verification, GR&R, and correlation with suppliers & customers.

· Hands on experince in fixture fabrication, including test baffle, carrier design, control circuitry, etc.

· Be the first line in failure analysis and trouble shooting in acoustics.

· Self-motivated with strong communication skill to all levels. Fluent written and oral English is a must.

· Good interpersonal skills with co-workers, shop floor staff, suppliers, customers, etc.

· Experience in lean manufacturing and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) is a bonus.
