To conceive, develop, finalise and document the vehicle audio system to meet or exceed performance and cost targets.

5. Typical duties and responsibilities
5.1 Work with Customer and Harman Sales staff to identify system requirements. Define and document an initial system architecture. Define component specifications and review costs.
5.2 Support assigned PLM projects as the team member with responsibility and accountability for all System Engineering activities. Typically 3 – 7 projects will be worked on simultaneously and will include a mixture of audio only systems (either analogue or digital amplifiers) and multimedia systems (digital amplifier, surround sound, CD, DVD, Video).
5.3 Participate in the presentation of concept systems in the pursuit of new business. Demonstrate system performance to Customer engineering and marketing personnel to gain approval for each development phase including final sign-off.
5.4 Fully document system and component performance for each phase of the system development. Provide amplifier component listings, DSP parameter settings and files, performance data and hardware as appropriate to the Customer and Harman/Becker sites. Evaluate system performance and refine/revise content, components and equalisation.
5.5 Ensure vehicle systems installations are fully documented and meet agreed standards of fit and cosmetic quality.
5.6 Keep abreast of the latest developments in world-class best practice in relation to audio product design, systems development, modelling/analysis.
5.7 Prepare technical reports suitable as submissions to professional journals/conference papers.
5.8 Ensure assigned vehicles are maintained in a clean, roadworthy condition and serviced regularly.
5.9 Provide continuing technical support for production level product.
