Essential Responsibilities:
? Financial: Responsible for developing and meeting transducer cost target
? Others The job holder may be involved in up to 1-5 projects simultaneously involving typically development of 3 - 7 new transducers or related
? Developments covering mainly customer programs. Some opportunities to work within Research and development
? Into new transducer related technologies will be available
? Key project team member for transducer development on assigned New Product Development Projects as the Engineer responsible and accountable for all Transducer Design Activities within the Project Team. Typically 1-5 projects will be allocated simultaneously involving up to 7 new transducer developments.
? Ensure all customer and internal key project milestones are met
? Key participant in all transducer related problem solving to overcome issues and obstacles within the transducer development process
? Provide technical support on Acoustical performance, durability and cost at design and feasibility reviews involving suppliers and Harman Personnel.
? Produce all relevant documentation such as Bills of Material’s, Sketches, Simulation data, Acoustic data sheets, DFMEA’s, DVP&R’s and all other documentation required to support the design process.
? Use and Maintain the transducer engineering design standards used within Harman/Becker Automotive Systems.
? Provide ongoing technical product support to production facilities
? Prepare technical reports suitable for presentation to all levels within HBAS
? Research and review Competitive Patents and IP through audio publications and online resources.
? Keep up to date with the latest developments in world class best practice in relation to audio product design, simulation, analysis and measurements, materials and manufacturing techniques.

Basic Qualifications:
? Academic: BA/BSc Acoustics, Electronics, or other related field
Desired Characteristics:
Persons suited to this role will be a self motivated, passionate about audio and music and have a genuine interest in loudspeaker design.
The job holder will have a basic knowledge of transducer design and measurements and an eagerness to develop the breadth and depth of their knowledge, skills and experience within a dynamic and involving environment.
Previous experience with 2D / 3D CAD packages will be advantageous but not vital, as will any performance simulation experience (FEA, BEM etc).
Team work and open contact with colleges will be a key part of day to day activities.
Additional working hours outside standard contracted hours may be required to ensure project deadlines are met.
Occasional travel to visit customers / suppliers in Europe, America and Asia

Essential Responsibilities:
· Supervise a small team of Engineers to achieve project and product development milestones while achieving cost, performance and timing objectives.
· Participate in the mechanical integration aspects of new product development programs following Harman design standards.
· Convey Harman product and system integration requirements to the customer.
- Use CATIA Version 5 (Revision 17 or higher) and/or Unigraphics NX CAD software at a skilled level to develop product concepts and designs of Harman/Becker systems and components. Note: experience with other CAD software is desirable.
· Conduct DFMEA, DFA and FEA analysis during the development of products.
· Prepare technical reports and presentations per customer requirements, and prepare technical reports and presentations for Harman management, peers, and direct reports, as necessary.
· Support departmental initiatives and activities as directed by the department supervisor.
· Provide technical support and guidance for the resolution of various customer and interdepartmental issues, as required.
· Travel, as required, to customer, supplier and other Harman sites.
Basic Qualifications:
Competency: Expert knowledge of 3D CAD tools (i.e. CATIA, Unigraphics).
Language: Fluency in English (written & verbal) is required.
Education: Degree required.
Certifications: None required.
Experience: Minimum 5 years related experience. Previous automotive design experience is required for this position Experience and knowledge in the design and manufacturing requirements of injection molded plastics and stamped metal components is essential. Previous manufacturing operations experience would be beneficial.
